Third Sunday Advent / Gaudete Sunday
His birthday is getting closer, are you getting excited? I hope so in the right spirit though, Him be born in your heart and so become very less unworthy in following Him in the road toward holiness. We have a universal vocation that is called, Universal Holiness. We are called to be holy. As John the Baptist in the Gospel today, answered all who, after listening to his preaching, inquired then what they must do, we heard him alluding to what the Church now teaches us to do the corporal and spiritual works of mercy. That is the practical ways taught and given to us by our Catholic Church. And so let us rejoice my dear co-travelers, because the more we listen to the Word of God the more we are being equipped by His Wisdom that enlightens our mind, strengthen our hearts to follow Jesus in the road of holiness. Be happy and don't worry. A blessed 3rd Sunday everyone!
Co-Traveler, Fr. Joel
The Mass – A slice at a time
Going back to the Responsorial Psalm, it is preferable for it to be sung, at least as far as the people’s response is concerned. Hence the psalmist, or cantor of the Psalm, sings the Psalm verses at the ambo or another suitable place, while the whole congregation sits and listens, normally taking part by means of the response, except when the Psalm is sung straight through, that is, without a response. However, in order that the people may be able to sing the Psalm response more easily, texts of some responses and Psalms have been chosen for the different times of the year or for the different categories of Saints. These may be used instead of the text corresponding to the reading whenever the Psalm is sung. If the Psalm cannot be sung, then it should be recited in a way that is particularly suited to fostering meditation on the Word of God.
On Wednesday December 12, 2018 Faith Formation discussed this Sunday in Advent is Gaudete Sunday which means Joy or Rejoice as we prepare for the birth of Jesus. Students also began preparing the Christmas play which we will perform at Christmas Eve Mass. All children of the parish are welcome to participate.
Kateri Prayer Circle
Never underestimate the power of prayer. Just one small prayer can change your life. If you or your family members need prayers for any reason, please call one of our Kateri Prayer Circle members, who will in turn call members of their group. Soon, many prayers will be offered for your specific prayer request. Please call:
Fay Waupochick 715-799-3437
Leatha Grinhaug 715-994-1098
You can also call the parish office with your Prayer request 715-799-3811.
Slow Down for Christmas
Take time to recognize in the middle of your busy preparations for the celebration of Christ’s birth, that Christ is also being reborn in the Bethlehems of our homes and daily lives. Slow down, be still, be awake to the Divine Mystery that happened 2000 years ago, and miraculously is still happening today. As old abbot was fond of saying, “The devil is always the most active on the highest feast days.” The supreme trick of Satan is to have us so busy decorating, preparing food and cleaning in preparation for the feast of Christmas, that we actually miss the coming of Christ. Pressure, stress, hurt feelings, anger impatience, injured egos - all these struggles are brought on by busyness, the must-do list. This year, stop the whirlwind of activity or you just might miss the celebration of Jesus altogether.
