Posoh! Hello friends,

Let me share with you something about the Parish Trustee.

There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit; there are different forms of service but the same Lord; there are different workings but the same God who produces all of them in everyone. (1 Cor. 12:4-6) A parish trustee is an active, responsible parish member who is called to serve the parish as advisor, overseer and counselor. The Treasurer Trustee holds an important role in the parish community as a member of the finance council. The Secretary Trustee holds an important role in the parish community as a member of the parish pastoral council. In the civil corporate entity of the parish, a trustee is a member of the corporate board and serves as a trustworthy advisor to the pastor/parish director, who is also concerned for the well-being and on-going development of a vibrant faith community. Trustees must be informed, involved and concerned about the parish and its members. An effective trustee brings trust, harmony, wisdom and counsel to the various aspects of parish life. Wisconsin state law requires that the trustee be elected by the members of the congregation. The term of office is two years. There is no legal limit to the number of terms a trustee may serve. However, a parish may place a limit on the number of terms. The Diocese strongly recommends that parishes establish a limit of three successive terms with the possibility of reelection following the one year of absence from this office. The particular responsibility for the administration of the parish and its goals are defined by Canon Law and Civil Law. The following descriptions serve as a guide to parishes and trustees in determining their role and duties in the parish. To be continued.. Posoh

We have only one week left for the 2015-2016 sessions.  I want to thank all of the people who helped to make this year wonderful.

We still have a lot happening this session.  On Saturday, April 30th at St. Anthony’s 4:00 mass there will be a First Communion celebration. On Sunday, May 1st here at St. Michael’s 10:30 mass there will be the First Communion celebration.

On May 8th the Confirmation candidates will celebrate the sacrament at St. Francis in Gresham.  The candidates and their sponsors need to be there at 4:45.  At 5:30 the candidates will meet with Bishop Rankin with the celebration to begin 6:00.  For all these young people, please keep them in your prayers.

If you are a high schooler from St. Michael’s, mark your calendar NOW!  We need for you to step forward and volunteer to help out at your Parish Picnic on Sunday, July 10th after the 9:00 mass.  Your help is needed with the games and fun activities we are planning.  Please, set a good example for our young ones and volunteer! Bring the books that you have read and pick up some new ones at the Book Share.  We are open the first Sunday of the month after 10:30 am mass and on food Pantry Days from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. We will be closed for the month of May due to moving our location to the Fr. Barrett Hall.

The Thrift & Gift aka Rummage Room was started in 2010 to help the community purchase gently used items at a reasonable price. It has expanded to handle furniture on a larger scale, sporting goods and on occasion, appliances. It depends solely on generous donations of loving people, not only from this community, but near and far. We are open the first and third Tuesday of the month from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm., which is April 19th, May 3rd & May 17th.  Contact Cookie Vigue if you have any questions 920-216-9240.

The JOY Choir leads the congregation in song at the Saturday evening mass.  Our mission is to sing with JOY for Jesus, Others, Yourself. Approximately ten people sing in the choir led by guitarist, Ellyn Dercks. We practice one-half hour before the Mass. If you enjoy music, please consider sharing your instrumental and/or vocal talents by joining the JOY Choir.  Weekly attendance is not expected as we realize people have family, work and other commitments – just sing when available. We would love to have you join us!

The Angels were formed to bring new lift to singing at mass, especially for young people. We welcome young people interested in singing and/or playing (or learning to play guitar).

Jonathan Wilber plays every other Sunday mass with his Angels.
