ANNOINTING OF THE SICK: Individual arrangements can be made through the Parish Office
BAPTISM: Preparation program required. Please contact the Parish Office.
MARRIAGE: Make arrangements with the pastor six months prior to desired date.
CONFIRMATION: Next class 2018.
Another essential part of the Sacrament of Baptism is its Matter and Form, in fact, all of the Sacraments have it, and without them even just one of them makes invalid any Sacrament being administered.
Matter is the thing used to administer to any Sacrament, for Baptism the matter is water that is blessed during the rite (or have been already blessed). The Form is the accompanying words (or formula) that is said by the minister of the Sacrament, and for Baptism, the form is “I baptize you, in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit”. The water signifies mainly the ‘cleansing’ character of Baptism, while the Trinitarian formula reveals that God (in the Holy Trinity) is the source of life and at the same time our life’s goal.
We must be conscious with these Matter and Form since it also validates our responsibility in the reception of the Sacrament, and be fully aware in particular how we should be as baptized individuals.
Youth Talk Ministry’s journey now begins! Middle School and High School students mark your calendars. Our second youth night will be August 25th at St. Mary’s in Leopolis from 7-9pm. We continue to create more possible ways to gather the youth again, (and maybe sometime together with you dear parents), and try to foster more fun-filled and spiritual activities to open themselves in the service of the Church by the grace of God. FEAST OF ST. MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL:
The Feast of St. Michael the Archangel, our Parish Patron on September 29th is fast approaching. We are starting our preparation for this celebration. We will again have our Novena Masses starting September 20th through September 28th at 6 pm (except Saturday and Sunday). In connection with this, we will be taking special intentions for these Masses. The money collected will be our starting fund for next years’ celebration. If you wish to have a Mass said for a special intention, please go to the Parish Office and sign up for this. On the Feast of St. Michael, September 29th, Mass will be at 8 am. There will be a potluck breakfast after Mass to Celebrate the Feast of St. Michael.
The Mass: A slice at a Time - The Liturgical Year
r
Changes from the old translated English Mass to the New translated Mass.
The Greetings (The Lord be with you…)
One of the most noticeable changes in the Mass parts is the people’s response to this greeting: “The Lord be with you”. In the new translation we now reply, “And with your spirit.” This more adequately reflects the Latin text of the Mass and the biblical language of St. Paul (Galatians 6:18; Philippians 4:23 and Timothy 4:22). It also more fully expresses an important theological point. When we said, “And also with you” in the older translation, one might get the impression that our response was merely intended to express an exchange of personal greetings or reciprocal good will: May the Lord be with you, too, Father.”
But there is much more to this response. When a man is ordained a priest, the Holy Spirit comes upon him in a unique way, enabling him to perform the sacred rites of the Mass and consecrate the Eucharist. By responding, “And with your spirit,” we acknowledge the Spirit’s activity through the priest during the sacred Liturgy. It is Jesus Christ who is the head of the community gathered for Mass and it is His Spirit who is the primary actor in the liturgy, regardless who the particular priest celebrating Mass may be.

SHARE THE BOUNTY!
It’s time to “GROW A ROW” AND “SHARE THE BOUNTY”! These programs are hunger prevention programs which allow gardeners to bring their excess produce to drop off sites where it is distributed to families and individuals who can use it. There is no paper work for the recipient. It is a “win-win” situation because recipients get healthy food and gardeners know their produce will not be wasted. Drop off is 1st & 3rd Monday – 11 am to 1 pm and 1st & 3rd Tuesday 11 am – 2 pm. Pick up is 1st & 3rd Tuesday of the month, 1-3 pm. This is for St. Michael’s Food Pantry.
