ANNOINTING OF THE SICK: Individual arrangements can be made through the Parish Office

BAPTISM:  Preparation program required. Please contact the Parish Office.

MARRIAGE:  Make arrangements with the pastor six months prior to desired date.

The Sacrament of Matrimony can be traced in the Sacred Scriptures;   According to Catholicism by McBrien; “The Church’s understanding of the sacredness of marriage is rooted in the creation narrative in Genesis: ‘The Lord God said: “It is not good for the man to be alone” … That is why a man leaves his father and mother and clings to his wife, and the two of them become one body’. (Gen. 2:18-24). The Lord bless their union and orders them to be fruitful and multiply (Gen. 1:28).

Hence, Marriage in the Old Testament functions primarily as an institution for the preservation of the husband’s clan. Moreover, in the New Testament, McBrien continues that; Jesus deepens the Hebrew concept of Marriage, insisting on the oneness that exists between the man and the woman. Jesus speaks against divorce, so that the woman is not to be cast aside at will. (Mt.5:31-32, 19:3-12) Further, Jesus also regards Marriage as a state in life proper to this age; “in heaven there will be no marrying (Mk.12:25).

There are particular emphasis on the Biblical proofs said about the Sacrament of Matrimony which again need our reflection and the light of faith.

Fr. Francis, m.f.

Ash Wednesday Prayer

O Jesus, you place on my forehead a sign of your Cross: “Turn from sin and be faithful to the gospel.” How can I turn from sin unless I turn to you? You speak, you raise your hand, you touch my mind and call my name, “Turn to the Lord your God again.”  These days of your favor leaving a blessing as you pass on me and all your people. Turn to us, Lord God, and we shall turn to you.

The Mass

The Introductory Rites: There is also the deacon, the lectors, those who present the offerings, the extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, the altar servers, the musicians, and other ministers. This first movement contains the Introductory Rites, which begin the celebration of the Mass. These include the Penitential Rite, the Gloria, and the Opening Prayer.

On Wednesday the students and their family members watched 3 short videos about Ash Wednesday and Lent.  All attended Mass where 5 students read the petitions and Fr. Joel gave everyone with a February birthday a special blessing.  We then enjoyed a pizza and potluck dinner.  Every family worked on and took home a Lent project filled with ideas on how to observe Lent.

Next Wednesday we will have a prayer service with ashes distributed at 6pm by Deacon Fuller.  Families are encouraged to attend. .

Encounter Lent

Join our faith community – and nearly 14,000 Catholic communities across the United States – in a life-changing Lenten journey of encounter with CRS Rice Bowl. Pick up your family’s CRS Rice Bowl from the main entrance to church. During the 40 days of Lent, as companions on the journey, we will encounter our neighbor.

Daily Reflections for Lent – Not by Bread Alone 2018 are available in the entrances. Please take one per family.

Life in the Spirit is tomorrow night, Feb. 12th at 7:00pm at St. Francis. Please come join us. You can register at the seminar. Use the parish hall entrance. See what God has in store for you this Lent! See you there!

Ash Wednesday

Mass for Ash Wednesday will be at 8 am on 2/14/2018 (No 10 am Mass that morning). A prayer service with distribution of Ashes will be at 6 pm with Faith Formation students.   While Ash Wednesday is not a Holy Day of Obligation, it is a meaningful day to observe our faith. Please join us.

St. Michael’s will be having two Fish Fries during Lent - March 2nd and March 16th from 4 – 6 pm. We are looking for monetary donations to defray the cost of the fish.  Any amount will be helpful and can be given to the Parish Office.  Thank you.

The Bishop's Appeal is a stewardship opportunity for each of us to reach out to thousands of people in search of Jesus' love.  Each gift given supports the ministries of the Diocese of Green Bay which serve our parishes, Catholic schools and communities.  Your gift truly helps bring the heart and hands of Christ to our children, young adults, families and neighbors here in northeastern Wisconsin. To make a gift today, pick up envelope in back of church, visit the Bishop’s Appeal website at, or call Tammy toll-free at 877-500-3580, ext. 8123.

 You Can Understand the Bible!

If you want a better understanding of our faith, and a deeper relationship with God, then you should join us for “A Quick Journey Through the Bible”, beginning Monday,  February 19, at St. Michael’s Fr. Barrett Hall; we will meet from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM for 8 sessions.

By being a part of this bible study, you will not only benefit personally, but you will also help to bring about a profound renewal in our parish as we all grow closer to Christ.  The study will include a series of eight, half-hour videos presented by Jeff Cavins. Each video will be followed by a lively group discussion.  This would be a good Lenten practice!

The pastor may appoint members to fill positions vacated with unexpired terms.
