July 1st, 13th Sunday in Ordinary Time

St. Michael’s Christian Community, located on the Menominee Indian Reservation, is a diverse Christian community reaching out to all residents, learning, loving, sharing, and communicating with one another through the teachings and practices celebrated in the Mass and the holy sacraments of the Catholic Church by integrating sacred symbols and spiritual practices of the Menominee.

Deacon Mark Writing

There have been several items in the bulletin the past few weeks about appropriate ways for us to handle the transition from one parish administrator to another.  I have just a few thoughts to share on making our new priest feel welcome.  First, and this is important… tell Fr. Nonito what a good deacon we have serving in the parish and he should make sure not to give Deacon Mark too much work.  On a more serious and practical level, it can be very difficult to learn so many new names when coming to multiple parishes.  It is OK to repeatedly tell him your name and what you are involved with in the parish.  Tell him your story, the story of the parish, and the important values of the parish.  Be patient with him.  The stress of moving, the grief of leaving a familiar parish and the newness of it all can be a lot to deal with. Be patient! Be kind! Be welcoming!  Give him time get to know you and the parish.  Pray for Fr. Nonito and let him know that you are praying for him.  Fr. Nonito, we welcome you and may the Lord Jesus bless your time with us!

 Upon further reflection:

A deacon was giving a lesson on the 23rd Psalm to a group of children.  He noticed that Little Johnny seemed upset by the verse, “Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life.”

“What’s wrong, Johnny?” asked the deacon.

“Well,” replied Little Johnny, “I’m not worried about goodness and mercy, but I’m not sure I want like Shirley following me around all the time!”

In His Mercy,

The Mass – A slice at a time

 Gestures and Bodily Posture

A common bodily posture, to be observed by all those taking part, is a sign of the unity of the members of the Christian community gathered together for the Sacred Liturgy, for it expresses the intentions and spiritual attitude of the participants and also fosters them.

Faith Formation Update

We will be starting Faith Formation again in September, 2018.   Registration forms for the 2018-2019 session are available in the main entrance of church and will be available at the St. Michael’s Family Picnic on June 24th..  Remember to keep God with you this SUMMER!

Lectors and Eucharistic Ministers Needed

Come help celebrate the Mass by joining us as a lector or Eucharistic minister on Saturday or Sundays.  Preparation is minimal and the rewards of this service are enriching and fulfilling. Please contact the Parish Office at St. Michaels if interested. (715) 799-3811

Michael’s Cleaning Ministry

Scrubbing floors. Mopping and sweeping. It may not be glamorous work, but it’s a wonderful way to serve the Lord and give back for all of His blessings. Indeed, we are often told that “cleanliness is next to Godliness.”

Father Joel is asking a group of parishioners to Volunteer to clean the sacristy, altar, and chapel twice a month as part of the Church Cleaning Ministry. We would like to get two groups of volunteers so you would only clean once a month for two hours. We will meet the 1st & 3rd Tuesday of the month at 10 am. If you have any questions, please call Sylvia at 715-799-3983.  Please join us!
