CONFIRMATION:
Summertime is up close in person! I see a lot of persons that do not belong to my sheepfold, hehehe! Thank you all for coming join us in our Weekend Holy Mass celebrations at St. Michael Catholic Church, Keshena in the land of the Menominee Nation.
All around is green and very green again. Thanks be to God! And at the same time we have this year, in Keshena, a road repair or widening (Hwy 47). It will a bit take time from one point to the other of our travels but the end/ purpose of it is for the better life in this area. So thanks be to God too for that. And also, I thank you all who made our 2018 Bishop’s Appeal a huge success. Maraming salamat po! - Thank you very much.
My dear co-travelers, the Word of God today reminds us of the fall into sin of our first parents, Adam and Eve. But with the Lord there is mercy and fullness of redemption. And St. Paul exhorted the Corinthians to look not to what is seen but to what is unseen; for what is seen is transitory and what is unseen is eternal.
In the Gospel, Jesus reminds his listeners and followers that his mother, brothers and sisters are those who do the Will of God. And so we can maybe ask the question: Is Jesus the foundation of our life convictions? How are we Jesus’ mother, brothers and sisters? I think these basis and simple questions will lead us and will point us to ourselves to our inner self and so let us face them and have a personal encounter with Jesus, the Way, the Truth and our Life.
Have a nice and blessed weekend everyone!
Co- Traveler, Fr. Joel
The Mass – A slice at a time
Great importance should therefore be attached to the use of singing in the celebration of the Mass, with due consideration for the culture of peoples and abilities of each liturgical assembly. Although it is not always necessary (e.g. in weekday Masses) to sing all the texts that are in principle meant to be sung, every care should be taken that singing by the ministers and the people not be absent in celebrations that occur on Sundays and on Holy Days of Obligation. However, in the choosing of the parts actually to be sung, preference is to be given to those that are of greater importance and especially to those which are to be sung by the Priest or the Deacon or a reader, with the people replying, or by the Priest and people together.
Faith Formation Update
We will be starting Faith Formation again in September, 2018. Registration forms for the 2018-2019 session are available in the main entrance of church and will be available at the St. Michael’s Family Picnic on June 24th.. Remember to keep God with you this SUMMER! If any students are looking for volunteer hours, we can use you at our Picnic.
