June 17th, Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time

St. Michael’s Christian Community, located on the Menominee Indian Reservation, is a diverse Christian community reaching out to all residents, learning, loving, sharing, and communicating with one another through the teachings and practices celebrated in the Mass and the holy sacraments of the Catholic Church by integrating sacred symbols and spiritual practices of the Menominee.

Last weekend we returned to Ordinary Time in our liturgical journey. But Ordinary Time should not be understood as unimportant time but rather that, for the next twenty-one weeks, we will mine the riches of the mystery of Christ in an ordered way, ponder all that we have celebrated in Easter and perhaps even reflect on those long-forgotten Lenten Resolutions. And we will continue to give thanks for God’s faithfulness and presence in our lives and in the life of his Church.

There is a phrase that could summarize today’s readings: Small is beautiful! Indeed, as we survey the life of faith, it is often the small or insignificant that is the focus of God’s presence. The young David slayed Goliath and became a great king; Paul, whose name means small, became a celebrated evangelist and preacher; Theresa of Calcutta began with a few rupees and a mission and became a saint whose work continues to inspire millions. Yes small is beautiful! So possible to you, be small in the eyes of this world but big in God’s eyes, be humble, be simple, be thankful to God, come and pray with us.

Happy Father’s Day to all Fathers!

The Mass – A slice at a time

The main place should be given, all things being equal, to Gregorian chant, as being proper to the Roman Liturgy. Other kinds of sacred music, in particular polyphony, are in no way excluded, provided that they correspond to the spirit of the Liturgical action and that they foster the participation of all the faithful.

Faith Formation Update

We will be starting Faith Formation again in September, 2018.   Registration forms for the 2018-2019 session are available in the main entrance of church and will be available at the St. Michael’s Family Picnic on June 24th..  Remember to keep God with you this SUMMER!
