    PARISH MISSION STATEMENT

We are a Christian community called together to grow in faith and to celebrate God’s love for us in the Mass and Sacraments of the Catholic Church.  Through the gospel message and our common worship we are challenged to give Christian witness by our lives and service to others.

PRAYER FOR THE SUMMER

Father, Creator of all,

Thank you for Summer!

Thank you for the warmth of the sun

And the increased daylight.

Thank you for the beauty I see all around me

and for the opportunity to be outside

and enjoy your creation.

Thank you for the increased time I have to be with my friends and family,

and for the more casual pace of the summer season.

Draw me closer to you this summer.

Teach me how I can pray no matter where I am

or what I am doing.

Warm my soul with the awareness of

Your presence and light my path

with Your word and counsel.

As I enjoy your creation, create in me a pure heart

and a hunger and a thirst for You.

                                                                                            Amen

    God bless.

    Co-Traveler,

     Fr. Joel

 FAITH FORMATION UPDATES

Now that the summer is in full swing, I just want  parents/guardians to pause for a few moments and think about our Faith Formation, Religious Education         Children’s Program.  We will be offering classes in the sacraments of reconciliation and Communion.  Typically, children receive these sacraments for the first time while they are in second grade, however, we also prepare older children to celebrate these sacraments.  Our program is also for all children, parents/guardians enhancing our knowledge of Catholic faith.  Pamphlets about our program are available in the front entrance of the church.

Summer Fun!

Here is a fun activity that can also teach children about Noah and Rainbow!

First take a plastic water bottle and cut the bottom off.

Then take an old sock and duct tape it to the newly cut opening. (You could also rubber band to assure it will stay on.)

Now take a pie pan (using a disposable aluminum one is great) and dish soap and a little water to the pie pan.

Take a small amount of food coloring and put a small drop of rainbow colors around the socks.

Dip the sock into the mixture and take out and blow threw the bottle opening. The result is a beautiful bubbly rainbow.

Now you have the wonderful opportunity to tell the story of Noah and the Arc and the symbol of the RAINBOW!

CALLING ALL YOUNG ADULTS OF ST. MICHAEL’S PARISH!!!! If you are in  high school from St. Michael’s, mark your calendar NOW! We need for you to step forward and volunteer to help out at your parish Picnic on Sunday, July10th after the 9:00 mass. Your help is needed with the games and fun activities we are planning. Please, set a good example for our young ones and volunteer! Put your faith into action! More information as we get closer to the date! Mark your calendar, NOW!

SERVERS NEEDED

Last we mass! It would be wonderful if this would happen every week.  Calling young people of St. Michael’s to volunteer to become acolytes, servers at the altar. Once you have received your First Communion you can become a server. It is easy and very rewarding. Call me or the rectory for more information or talk to me after Sunday’s mass!   God bless,    Lois Maczuzak

COMMITTEE INFORMATION   (Continued from last week)

5) Evangelization: Ensures that evangelization is at the center of parish missionary efforts. It promotes efforts that make disciples; build lives of intentional discipleship and send parishioners out into the word to share the Good News of Jesus Christ so that conversion of hearts and growth in discipleship continue to take place. Guidelines and resources are available through the Department of New Evangelization.

D. Parish Organization: All parish sanctioned organizations should have at a minimum, a liaison relationship to facilitate communication between the pastoral council and the organizations.

E. Executive Committee:  Parish Councils may find it helpful to have an executive committee. This committee reviews the previous council meetings and prepares the agenda for upcoming meetings. Typically the pastor, pastoral council chairperson and one or two other members of the council serve on this committee.

F. Annual Leadership Gathering:  Annually, parish leaders, including the pastor, pastoral council, finance council, trustees, members of the staff, chairpersons of important parish committees, councils and organizations are encouraged to gather. The purposes of this gathering are:

1. To provide support and encouragement

 to leaders.

2. To facilitate communication between

leaders,

3. Review roles, responsibilities and activities of staff and leadership bodies, and

4. Consider together how each contributes to the common mission and priorities of the parish.

CONTINUED NEXT WEEK  . . .

We would like to thank Duane & Diane Voigt, who have been our volunteer money counters and miscellaneous other jobs at St. Michaels over the past 20+ years.  We cannot thank you enough for the countless volunteer hours that you have put in. You were very appreciated and will be missed
