CONFIRMATION:
In my country, we use to say: “Ang buhay ay weather weather lang” - Life is just about weather.
Welcome to my warm/hot weather, enjoy your lakes, folks!
In this first weekend of June, as the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Corpus Christi - The Body and Blood of Christ, we also welcome a missionary priest for the Diocese of Issele-Uku, Nigeria, Fr. Callistus Elue, Parish Administrator of St. Joseph Parish, Crandon. He will celebrate Mass in Keshena on Saturday, in Gresham and Neopit on Sunday. So may I simply invite you to please be generous to his appeal.
Fr. Francis together with Fr. Dennis, one of our brother priests, are going to Crivitz to do the same Mission Appeal this weekend with the same cause, to support seminary of our religious community down the Philippines. Please include them in your prayers for a safe travels. Thanks a lot.
The celebration of the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ is supremely valued by Christians globally. In some parishes a solemn procession famously known Corpus Christi is being held. I believe this procession was also done in here some few years ago. We now just say: We use to do that here too? But now those days are gone…yap truly: Ang buhay ay weather weather lang.- Winter, spring, summer and fall, each has its own beauty and challenges. But whatever is the weather in life, Corpus Christi can speak for all what we can say about our faith. The Eucharist relates to our birth, life, journey, sufferings, sins, struggles, death and salvation. The perennial challenge is to prepare ourselves for participating more meaningfully at each Mass. And may I ask you all to consider also having celebrate Mass for your intention, THE MASS INTENTION. My experience here is that there are many masses without Mass Intention. Please consider this matter. Let us, priests, celebrate daily masses with your intentions. Just give a call to our parish secretary.
God bless America!
Co-Traveler,
Fr. Joel
The Mass – A slice at a time
The Importance of Singing - The Christian faithful who come together as one in expectation of the Lord’s coming are instructed by the Apostle Paul to sing together Psalms, hymns, and spiritual canticles (cf. Col 3:16). Singing is the sign of the heart’s joy (cf. Acts 2:46). Thus St. Augustine says rightly, “Singing is for one who loves” and there is also an ancient proverb: “Whoever sings well prays twice over.”
Faith Formation Update
We will be starting Faith Formation again in September, 2018. Registration forms for the 2018-2019 session are available in the main entrance of church and will be available at the St. Michael’s Family Picnic on June 24th.. Remember to keep God with you this SUMMER! If any students are looking for volunteer hours, we can use you at our Picnic.

SECOND COLLECTION THIS WEEKEND: MISSIONARY APPEAL FOR THE DIOCESE OF ISSELE-UKU, NIGERIA
The Diocese was established on July 5, 1973. Located in Delta State, Nigeria, West Africa, it covers a total area of about 1,871 square miles. Through the special blessing and grace of God, missionary work through grassroots evangelization continues to bear abundant fruit. Currently, the Diocese has 92 parishes with a total population of over 2,191,648, of which 884,589 are Catholics. Diocesan priests number 230, while women in religious vocations number about 99. We currently have 51 Major Seminarians.
OUR NEEDS AND MISSIONARY CO-OP PRIORITY
The material resources and necessary infrastructure required for the work of evangelization are enormous. The Diocesan School of Evangelization (Emmaus School) and our Minor Seminary continue to struggle. After thirty years of Government takeover, formerly Catholic schools were returned to the Diocese in October 2011. The Diocese continues to manage and resolve the challenges of rehabilitating the schools’ structural neglect and moral decadence. In light of the scope of income generated from Missionary Cooperation, our priority for the Appeal is the Seminarians; the cost of training future priests continues to rise. We do not want to turn away those who have genuine vocations for lack of funds. The Seminarians themselves engage in work normally outsourced to employees and manual work such as subsistence farming at the Seminary in order to subsidize the entire cost.
Please prayerfully consider donating towards the training of the Seminarians of the Diocese of Issele-Uku; anything you give to support our efforts is deeply appreciated. Thank you, and God bless you for your generosity.
Father Callistus Elue, Administrator, St. Joseph’s Parish
Crandon, WI 54520

St. Joseph’s School Reunion
The Social Concerns Committee thanks the volunteers that worked on the St. Joseph’s School Reunion. Joyce Ninham, Liz Arnold, and Willie Peters worked very hard organizing and planning the event.
