Anamehawikamek Welcome

We are a Christian community called together to grow in faith and to celebrate God’s love for us in the Mass and Sacraments of the Catholic Church.  Through the gospel message and our common worship we are challenged to give Christian witness by our lives and service to others.

How are our youth? I just want to start thinking about them. What could be the contributing factors why we don't see them in this place, the church. According to a study conducted by the Kaiser Family Foundation, there has been a huge increase over the years in media use among young people. The study found that 85% of teens aged 14 - 17 have cell phones, 69% of 11 - 13 year olds have cell phones, and 31% of children aged 8 - 10 have cell phones. The use of cellphones is crucial. What kind of cell phone- traditional or smart? Free access to internet or limited? What are the social, parental, Church guidelines? What should parents consider in purchasing cell phones for their children and what are the current advantages and disadvantages? Celebrating the Breathing of the Holy Spirit from the Risen Lord, let us ask the gifts of the Holy Spirit to guide us all in addressing this crucial and urgent family issue. God bless us all!

Ever wonder what would happen if we treated our Bible like we treat our cell phone?

What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets?

What if we flipped through it several times a day?

What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it?

What if we used it to receive messages from the text?

What if we treated it like we couldn’t live without it?

What if we gave it to kids as a gift?

What if we used it when we traveled?

What if we used it in an emergency?

This is something to make you go…hmm…where is my Bible? One more thing…Unlike our cell phones we don’t have to worry about our Bible being disconnected because, Jesus already paid the bill. Makes you stop and think ’Where are my priorities?’ And no dropped calls! When Jesus died on the cross, he was thinking of you!

PENTECOST SUNDAY:  When the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles, they were granted the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Those gifts helped them to fulfill their mission to preach the Gospel to all nations. For us, too, those gifts—granted when we are infused with sanctifying grace, the life of God in our souls—help us to live a Christian life. Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety, Fear of the Lord. By Scott P Richert.

PENTECOST is sometimes called the birthday of the Church. The Gospel for Pentecost reminds us that the Church begins with the command to forgive. Within the family, the domestic Church, we learn how to forgive and how to accept forgiveness. The gift of the Holy Spirit enables us to do both. Today is a fitting time to share a family celebration of reconciliation.

As you gather together as a family, sit quietly for a few minutes, inviting everyone to reflect upon their need to forgive and to receive forgiveness. If there is a situation or an issue within the family that needs attention, spend some time reflecting on how your family might address it. Read together today’s Gospel, John 20:19-23. Talk together about how Jesus gave us the gift of the Holy Spirit to help us in the work of forgiveness and to bring us peace. Pray together today’s Psalm or the Prayer to the Holy Spirit, asking that the Holy Spirit help your family. Share with one another a Sign of Peace.

If you know anyone who is in need of our prayers, please contact one of the following in our Kateri Prayer Circle:  Fay 715-799-3437, Evy 715-799-6031 or Leatha 715-9

It’s time to “GROW A ROW” AND “SHARE THE BOUNTY”!  These programs are hunger prevention programs which allow gardeners to bring their excess produce to drop off sites where it is distributed to families and individuals who can use it. There is no paper work for the recipient. It is a “win-win” situation because recipients get healthy food and gardeners know their produce will not be wasted.  Drop off is 1st & 3rd Monday – 11 am to 1 pm and 1st & 3rd Tuesday 11 am – 2 pm. Pick up is 1st & 3rd Tuesday of the month, 1-3 pm. This is for St. Michael’s Food Pantry.

BlestArt will be set up June 10 & 11th before and after Mass to display olivewood carvings with proceeds to benefit Catholics in the Holy Land. Please see insert in today’s bulletin.
