PARISH MISSION STATEMENT

We are a Christian community called together to grow in faith and to celebrate God’s love for us in the Mass and Sacraments of the Catholic Church.  Through the gospel message and our common worship we are challenged to give Christian witness by our lives and service to others.

  Fr. Francis

Concluding my article for this month is a brief synthesis about what I have shared to you, I hope it helped us some way or another in rekindling our Christian life.

The Eucharist is one essential pillar of our being Catholics (that is why we already bring to church for Mass even our newly baptized infants/children as we start to concretely incorporate them to the faith), but sad to think that of this present time, not all Catholics put much interest on the Sacrament anymore. Furthermore, some have convinced themselves that the Mass is ‘boring’; where there is nothing ‘new’ every Sunday.

What I felt here my co-children of God is this thinking of; ‘How have some ever say that Mass no longer interests them, and it’s boring’. Well, boring and no longer interesting because maybe we are not participative (have we been active participants before?) Or maybe we can see problems directly related to the Sacrament itself like; the Priest is not vibrant or holy or never associate himself to the people (what if you have the kind of priest you like in the church, but he will never be permanent there, will you remain active even if a new one takes over, or will you leave the church and no longer attend Mass)… or we see other people in the Church who do not totally participate as well… or is it the way how the choir sings during Mass?… or it may be the lectors, they are not very presentable or eloquent in reading the words of God… what else that can make our reason to feel bored? Or maybe we are really expecting for something ‘new’ in the Mass which I think would not be very effective after all; the Liturgy (Mass) itself for instance can never be changed, we just did some modifications in some words yet it is still what it is, we can never change it like for example to have Communion first and have the readings, with all the singing alone in a particular part… and then next time another different pattern… NO, because we have its proper ‘format’; the Liturgy of the Word as the first part then the second part is the Liturgy of the Eucharist. What new do we still want to see? I think the more that we seek for ‘new’ things ‘outside’ of us, we will never be contented, every now and then we want to see something new (every Mass) so we can merely satisfy our boredom… Whereas, if it would be something NEW… EVERY MASS, within ourselves that we need to establish; for instance, what does the words in the Gospel wants to teach us?… we can make something different if we try to work out on what the Words of God is telling us, moreover, it will be of great help for our continues spiritual growth, and it will be a more fruitful and meaningful appreciation of the Holy Eucharist in our life… So that we consider every Mass very necessary for our life itself.

Lastly, we come to Mass to commemorate and at the same time participate in the Sacrificial work of Jesus to show us his LOVE, we want to be loved always, then here we have the Holy Eucharist where we can be loved always… and we can also learn how to love one another.

Thank you for journeying my co-disciples on the way! Be blessed always.

Fr. Francis, mf
