CONFIRMATION:
“Friendship with Jesus”
My co-disciples on the way, peace and blessings be upon you always!
The Old Testament says: “He who finds a friend finds a treasure”, imagine Jesus himself wants to be friend with us, it is more than all other treasures we can ever think of and asked for. The Gospel for this Sunday points out what it means by being friends of Jesus and it indicates 3 things;
First, Jesus tells us that; “You are my friends if you do what I command you.” What is his command? “Love one another…”
Second, to be a friend of Jesus is a privilege. What is that privilege? That is knowing everything about the Father, because Jesus tells us everything that he heard from his Father (unlike a slave who does not know what his master is doing).
And lastly, friendship with Jesus is measured through laying down of one’s life, which Jesus himself has demonstrated. Again, how do we respond to that call to love one another… are we dispose to love that we are ready to ‘offer’ our lives for others?
Do you want to be friend of Jesus?… be ready to love!
Do you want to be friend of Jesus?… turn away from the slavery of sin and live in the truth of the Words that Jesus taught us!
Do you want to be friend of Jesus?… lay down your life for Jesus, by remaining faithful to him!
Fr. Francis, m.f.
The Mass – A slice at a time
The acclamation and the responses of the faithful to the Priest’s greetings and prayers constitute that level of active participation that is to be made by the assembled faithful in every form of the Mass, so that the action of the whole community may be clearly expressed and fostered.
Faith Formation Update
On Saturday April 28th we held our First Communion Retreat with 14 students attending. We watched videos on how hosts are made, different areas of the church and parts of the mass. The students made individual banners, prayer boxes to take home and bread in a bag. Three of the students attended Sunday Mass and shared the bread with a prayer partner.
Please continue to pray for these students as they prepare for First Eucharist to be celebrated May 13th at our 9 am Mass.
Thank you to the parents who attended the retreat. Thanks to catechists who helped at our Retreat: Vicky Minch, Rose James, Samantha Anderson, Rayna Tucker, Ruth Tucker and Riley Tucker.
Thank you to all the students, catechists, parents and aides who helped this year by attending our potlucks and bringing snacks. See you in the fall.

Parish Cemetery – Selling of Burial Rights
Anyone wishing to purchase burial rights in a parish cemetery shall contact the parish office, which in turn, will contact the employee or the cemetery committee member who is in charge of selling burial rights.
It is important to note that the cemetery/parish does not sell physical property. The purchaser does not take ownership of the land on which the lots(s) are located, but rather the purchaser becomes a holder of burial right(s) in that space. A clear explanation should be included in each cemeteries own “Burial Rights Policy.”
All monies paid for burial rights shall be paid to the parish office. The monies will be credited to the specific cemetery accounts, and a receipt will be given to the purchaser, with a certificate of easement, which is a document that confirms the right(s) of burial.
