A Note from Fr. Joel.
After Christmas Day, the liturgy right away celebrates the Feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph.
When family members come together, Christmas becomes a happy occasion for all. Family reunions take place. What a wonderful feeling for family to be reunited after a period of separation. It is an immense joy to see how new members are added to family and clan, how very young members grow up, pursue careers and start their own family. In the same way, it brings great joy to see the elderly members of the family, with gray hair and health problems, still bring inspiration and light to all. At this time of the year we also reconnect with our dear departed who have passed on from this life but have etched enduring memories in our hearts.
Here in America, every last Thursday of November, Thanksgiving Day, we gathered to thank God and everyone for all the blessings given us, especially the family we belong to.
So, yes, as Catholics let us remember Mama Mary and St. Joseph, the two most powerful persons in the Universe after the Holy Trinity, and let us thank them not only this weekend but always for their maternal, paternal and fraternal intercession and protection for all of us. I hope and pray that we all grow in our faith and loving devotion to both of them as we follow Jesus along the way of discipleship towards holiness. A blessed Holy Family Sunday everyone!
Co-Traveler, Fr. Joel
The Mass – A slice at a time
The Acclamation before the Gospel
After the reading that immediately precedes the Gospel, the Alleluia or another chant laid down by the rubrics is sung, as the liturgical time requires. An acclamation of this kind constitutes a rite or act in itself, by which the gathering of the faithful welcomes and greets the Lord who is about to speak to them in the Gospel and profess their faith by means of the chant. It is sung by everybody, standing, and is led by the choir or a cantor, being repeated as the case requires. The verse, on the other hand, is sung either by the choir or by a cantor.
The Christmas play put on by the children on Christmas Eve was wonderful. There will be no Faith Formation until January 10th.
Kateri Prayer Circle
Never underestimate the power of prayer. Just one small prayer can change your life. If you or your family members need prayers for any reason, please call one of our Kateri Prayer Circle members, who will in turn call members of their group. Soon, many prayers will be offered for your specific prayer request. Please call:
Fay Waupochick 715-799-3437
Leatha Grinhaug 715-994-1098
You can also call the parish office with your Prayer request 715-799-3811.
Choir
Do you like to sing? Can you play an instrument? We are looking to get a choir together. If you are interested in singing or playing an instrument and would like to be a part of this choir, please call the parish office at (715) 799-3811
