A Note from Fr. Joel

Second Sunday Advent

Yesterday, the Church honored Mama Mary in her title: The Immaculate Conception, partial feast day of the United States of America. And for us Filipinos, this title of her is the Principal patroness of our country, Philippines. Thank you Mama Mary for your constant maternal intercession for all of us, your sons and daughters in Jesus your only Begotten Son.

In this second Sunday of Advent, St. John is going throughout the region of Jordan, proclaimed a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins in fulfillment of the scriptures.

For our four parishes, we have scheduled two dates for the sacrament of confession: Dec. 5, Wednesday in Keshena and Dec. 12, Wednesday in Leopolis. I think, we barely appreciate this sacrament. Please make time and space for this vital sacrament of our Catholic faith because we are Catholic and not any other Christian denomination who eliminated this sacrament. Please grab that precious opportunity to be cleansed so to make holy space and time for Jesus when He comes in our very own hearts. Yes, it is not easy to be Catholic. Have a blessed weekend everyone.

Co-Traveler, Fr. Joel

The Mass – A slice at a time

Lectionary - The book called Lectionary is that book where the First and Second readings and the Responsorial Psalms are contained. While where the Gospel readings are is called “ Evangeliary” or “The Book of the Gospels”. And the big book that is being placed upon the altar that the Priest throughout the celebration uses and where he prayed the Collect and everything is called Sacramentary.

On Wednesday December 5th Faith Formation’s older students participated in our Parish’s Reconciliation.  We watched two videos, one on St. Nicholas and the other was about John The Baptist.  Before leaving, each student received a treat bag in honor of St. Nicholas’s Feast Day December 6, 2018.  Next week we will begin practice for our Christmas play that will be during Christmas Eve Mass.  Any child from our Parish is welcome to take part.

Kateri Prayer Circle

Never underestimate the power of prayer. Just one small prayer can change your life. If you or your family members need prayers for any reason, please call one of our Kateri Prayer Circle members, who will in turn call members of their group.  Soon, many prayers will be offered for your specific prayer request.  Please call:

Fay Waupochick 715-799-3437

Leatha Grinhaug 715-994-1098

You can also call the parish office with your Prayer request 715-799-3811.

Knight’s of Columbus, St. Kateri Tekakwitha Council, No. 12185

For the last 16 years, there are very clear choices that we Knights and Lady Knights make when we decide to put our community and families first. The Knights sponsored St. Kateri Tekakwitha Council 12185 Elmo Novelli and Alvin J. Rathsack Memorial Thanksgiving Dinner.

We would like to thank all the businesses and people for your generous donations towards our Thanksgiving Dinner, Knights and Lady Knights and all those community members who have donated their time with preparation of food, delivering dinners, cooking, serving and cleaning to make this special occasion a reality.

Our 16th Thanksgiving Dinner served 277 sit down meals and we delivered 251 meals to Shawano, Keshena, West Branch and Neopit.

Sincerely,

Paul A. Marroquin, Grand Knight
