Rising in Faith – 2020 Bishop’s Appeal
Let it Shine!
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp then put it under a bushel basket, it is set on a lampstand where it gives light to all in the house. Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.” Matthew 5:14-16
Dear Friends,
We are blessed to have wonderful faith formation educators here at St. Michael’s Church. They help our young people rise in faith every week! Our educators light a fire in the hearts of our children so they might know and love Jesus and they glorify our heavenly Father with the gifts they share with our children.
Thanks in part to the Bishop’s Appeal, our educators receive training and quality curriculum. Through these programs we engage our youth on their faith journey, so that they too might let their light shine for all to see, sharing the love of Christ.
Rising in Faith let your light shine! Your gift to the Bishop’s Appeal helps Catholic Education take place here at St. Michael’s. Please prayerfully consider a gift to the Bishop’s Appeal and join me in Rising in Faith! To make a gift contact our parish office, use the letter and pledge you received at home or visit the Bishop’s Appeal website at www.catholicfoundationgb.org/give.
In Jesus Christ,
Fr. Nonito

The Mass: A Slice at a time
MASS INTENTION - Definition
The object for which a priest offers the Eucharistic Sacrifice. This intention is distinct from the priest's decision to offer Mass, which is necessary for valid celebration. It is also distinct from the effects of the Mass which benefit those who take part in the sacrifice and attend the Mass. These are called the special fruits of the Mass and extensively are without limit, as are also the effects on the entire Church, called the general fruits of the Mass.
Religious Education Update:
Children's Mass with the students and family members attending. Thank you Fr. Nonito for celebrating Mass. Thank you Denae and Uriah for being lectors, Vanessa, Olivia and Samantha for altar serving and Mya, Marcus, Mile Jo and Taylor for bringing up the gifts.
We enjoyed a potluck supper afterwards. Thank you to all who attended and brought dishes to share.
Congratulations to our Packer Football Raffle winner - Franklin! Many thanks to all who bought tickets for our football raffle. This money helps fund our Religious Education Program.
The Bishop’s Appeal is a stewardship opportunity for each of us to reach out to thousands of people in search of Jesus’ love. Each gift given supports the ministries of the Diocese of Green Bay which serve our parishes, Catholic schools and communities. Your gift truly helps bring the heart and hands of Christ to our children, young adults, families and neighbors here in Northeastern Wisconsin.
Bishop Appeal
What impact does my gift have? Your gift to the Bishop’s Appeal helps Catholic Charities reach out to those in need by providing individual and family counseling. Catholic Charities teaches people financial responsibility, provides adoption and pregnancy counseling to birth parents and adoptive parents, guides individuals with unplanned pregnancies and offers other counseling services. Your gift brings faith formation to people of all ages. Parishes and Catholic schools are able to provide strong religious curriculum, train educators and youth leaders and supports Camp Tekakwitha summer camp for our youth. Within parishes, your gift assists in training and supporting pastoral ministers, parish staff, deacons and lay ministers. It supports outreach ministries, adult faith formation and we also support campus ministries for young adults. These are just a few ways your gift to the Bishop’s Appeal makes a difference. What is the average gift? And how much should I give? The average gift in 2019 was $211. Through prayerful consideration, we encourage everyone to consider what they can share with those who have less. Even small donations add up when everyone participates. For more information, please visit our website at www.catholicfoundationgb.org.
St. Michael Prayer
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen

Support St. Michael’s Faith Formation Programs!
What is Alpha?
Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the basics of the Christian faith. Typically run over eleven weeks, each session looks at a different question that people can have
about faith and is designed to create conversation. It’s just an open, informal and honest space to explore and discuss life’s big questions together. No two Alphas look the same, but generally they have three key things in common: food, a talk and good conversation. An Alpha group will be starting soon for the parishes of St. Michael’s and St. Anthony’s. It is for parish members and also for those family and friends who may be questioning and searching for answers to life’s questions. It is for those who regularly come to church and for those especially who don’t. Alpha is for everyone; all backgrounds, all contexts and all ages. Alpha Sessions will take begin on Tuesdays, Feb. 4th, 6:00 -7:30 PM, at St. Michael’s.
To sign up, please call the parish office or text Deacon Mark @ 715-201-2961.
