  A Note from Fr. Nonito

Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men.”  Luke 5:10

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

In today’s Gospel, Simon Peter and his fellow fishermen have a frustrating night of fishing. Simon questions Jesus after He suggests they lower their nets and give it another shot.  Why on earth would they catch anything now?  Jesus put these fishermen to the test.  He created a situation so the disciples would learn to trust Him; and Simon is deeply sorry for doubting Jesus who, of course, forgives him.  God’s mercy is there for all who ask forgiveness and all who have faith in Him.  Furthermore, Jesus is telling the fishermen they have the ability to transform the world!

Here in our Parish, we have fantastic faith formation educators who are catching young souls to be disciples of Christ.  Youth Ministry does the very thing Jesus did with the fishermen - they bring young people into experiences where they see the face of Jesus in others, where they encounter God’s mercy in an intimate way and are forever changed because of these events.   Students who attend Youth Ministry programs sponsored by the Bishop’s Appeal tend to become very connected with their Catholic faith and they truly become the future of our Church.

Please make your gift to the Bishop’s Appeal today and help reach out to build young disciples of Christ!  Contact our parish office, use the pledge card you received at home or visit the Bishop’s Appeal website at to make a gift.  Thank you for your gift to the Bishop’s Appeal and for your support of St. Michael Parish.

The Mass – A slice at a time

The Profession of Faith

The purpose of the Creed or Profession of Faith is that the whole gathering people may respond to the Word of God proclaimed in the readings taken from Sacred Scripture and explained in the Homily and that they may also honor and confess the great mysteries of the faith by pronouncing the rule of faith in a formula approved for liturgical use and before the celebration of these mysteries in the Eucharist begins.

On Wednesday February 6th the students and their families attended Mass and then went to the hall for Potluck.  Class schedule for remainder of February: Feb 13, 20 and 27 at 6 pm.

Kateri Prayer Circle

Never underestimate the power of prayer. Just one small prayer can change your life. If you or your family members need prayers for any reason, please call one of our Kateri Prayer Circle members, who will in turn call members of their group.  Soon, many prayers will be offered for your specific prayer request.  Please call:

Fay Waupochick 715-799-3437

Leatha Grinhaug 715-994-1098

 Bishop's Appeal

The Bishop’s Appeal kicks off this weekend.  The Bishop's Appeal is a stewardship opportunity for each of us to reach out to thousands of people in search of Jesus' love.  Each gift given supports the ministries of the Diocese of Green Bay which serve our parishes, Catholic schools and communities.  Your gift truly helps bring the heart and hands of Christ to our children, young adults, families and neighbors here in northeastern Wisconsin. St. Michael Parish goal is $6,582.00.

Letters will be arriving in the mail this week from Bishop Ricken.  If you do not receive a letter, you can make a gift today by visiting the Bishop’s Appeal website at or pick up an envelope and pledge sheet in the church entrances.

Welcome into our Catholic faith through Baptism Aliyah Hope Marvin and Shaun D. Schlueter, children of Rebecca Louise Marvin.

Looking for a couple of "seasoned" parents or grandparents who would be willing to help with our first gathering for expectant new parents or just became new parents that will be held on Sunday, February 17th at 2 PM in Barrett Hall.  For more info or to volunteer, call Anne Sulskis at 715-851-0160.

Expecting/New Baby

Are you expecting your first child or did you just become a new parent?  You are invited to a gathering on Sunday, Feb. 17th at 2 pm in Barrett Hall.  Bring your questions and worries (nonmedical) to share with us and we will be sharing experiences, giving some advice and options but most importantly, giving emotional support!  Refreshments will be served and door prizes from local businesses!

Mass Intentions

There are a lot of days open to have Masses said for your loved ones in 2019. Please stop in the Parish Office. The Mass stipend is $10.

What is the Bishop’s Appeal and where does my donation go?

The Bishop’s Appeal is a direct appeal to people of the Diocese, to ask them to make a gift to support the mission and ministries of the Diocese of Green Bay.  These ministries reach many different people in need.  Young people learn about Jesus in our parishes and Catholic schools, those in need of counseling are helped at Catholic Charities, men receive training and formation to become deacons and priests, and pastoral care is available to church members.  Your gift to the Bishop’s Appeal helps us build vibrant parishes and share the Gospel throughout northeastern Wisconsin.  The Bishop’s Appeal kicks off in February. St. Michael’s Goal is $6,582.00

The Community Resource Center in Keshena offers an array of classes including computer skills, preparing for employment, and much more. Classes are open to the general public. Call 715-799-5137 for more information.
