  A Note from Fr. Nonito

And raising his eyes toward his disciples he said: “Blessed are you who are poor, for the kingdom of God is yours.”  Luke 6:20

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

In today’s Gospel, Luke addresses the financial and social conditions of the human race; the rich -- the poor; the hungry – the satisfied; those grieving – those laughing; the outcast – those socially acceptable.  Some people become so consumed by their troubles that they are unable to recognize God’s tremendous love for them.  As Missionaries of Hope, we are called to help those struggling most in life.

Through your support of the Bishop’s Appeal, Catholic Charities’ counselors are able to help people resolve their problems.  Whether helping a grieving widow, a young teen with a drug addiction or a family in extreme debt, counselors are there bringing hope.

As Pastor, I often witness challenging life situations.  Sometimes I need more help, so I refer people who are struggling with life’s issues to the dedicated counselors at Catholic Charities.  Through the Bishop’s Appeal you help support the social service programs of Catholic Charities in five offices across our Diocese.

Join me in helping lift up those struggling most in life.  Please prayerfully consider making a gift to the Bishop’s Appeal. Visit the Bishop’s Appeal website at to make your gift today!   Thank you for your support of the Bishop’s Appeal and St. Michael Parish.

The Mass – A slice at a time

The Creed is to be sung or said by the Priest together with the people on Sundays and Solemnities. It may be said also at particular celebrations of a more solemn character. If it is sung, it is intoned by the Priest or, if appropriate, by a cantor or by the choir. It is then sung either by everybody together or by the people alternating with the choir. And if it is not sung, it is to be recited by everybody together or by two choirs responding one to the other.

On Wednesday February 13th, the Faith Formation students met in church to pray for our families and recite our prayers.  We talked about who was St. Valentine. We discussed Sunday’s upcoming Gospel about the Beatitudes. Each student was given a Valentine at the end of class. Class schedule for remainder of February: Feb 20 and 27 at 6 pm.

Kateri Prayer Circle

Never underestimate the power of prayer. Just one small prayer can change your life. If you or your family members need prayers for any reason, please call one of our Kateri Prayer Circle members, who will in turn call members of their group.  Soon, many prayers will be offered for your specific prayer request.  Please call:

Fay Waupochick 715-799-3437

Leatha Grinhaug 715-994-1098

You can also call the parish office with your Prayer request 715-799-3811.

Do you like to sing?   Can you play an instrument?  We are looking to get a choir together.  If you are interested in singing or playing an instrument and would like to be a part of this choir, please call the parish office at (715) 799-3811.

 Food Pantry

St. Michael Food Pantry is in need of volunteers, especially men, to carry out the food on the first and third Tuesday of each month.   If we don’t get volunteers, we will be closing.

Please contact the Parish Office (715) 799-3811 to volunteer.

 Bishop's Appeal

The Bishop’s Appeal kicks off this weekend.  The Bishop's Appeal is a stewardship opportunity for each of us to reach out to thousands of people in search of Jesus' love.  Each gift given supports the ministries of the Diocese of Green Bay which serve our parishes, Catholic schools and communities.  Your gift truly helps bring the heart and hands of Christ to our children, young adults, families and neighbors here in northeastern Wisconsin. St. Michael Parish goal is $6,582.00.

Letters will be arriving in the mail this week from Bishop Ricken.  If you do not receive a letter, you can make a gift today by visiting the Bishop’s Appeal website at or pick up an envelope and pledge sheet in the church entrances.

Welcome into our Catholic faith through Baptism

Carsin Grignon, son of Kyle Grignon and Mariah Connahvichnah, Aliyah Hope Marvin and

Shaun D. Schlueter, children of

 Rebecca Louise Marvin.

Expecting/New Baby

Are you expecting your first child or did you just become a new parent?  You are invited to a gathering on Sunday, Feb. 17th at 2 pm in Barrett Hall.  Bring your questions and worries (nonmedical) to share with us and we will be sharing experiences, giving some advice and options but most importantly, giving emotional support!  Refreshments will be served and door prizes from local businesses!

The Burden of Debt

Life can be challenging. There are times when people feel so lost. They find help through Catholic Charities and the many programs and resources in our diocese.

Amanda was in an abusive relationship that took a toll on her physically, emotionally and financially.  This relationship left her battered, bruised and in severe debt. Through God’s grace, Amanda found help from several organizations, including Catholic Charities Financial Health Program. With guidance from Bobbie Lison, Financial Health Counselor, Amanda learned to manage her money, prepared a plan to pull herself out of debt, paid her debts on-time and became self-sufficient.

“Going from $20,000 in debt to no debt … it’s amazing. It feels great,” says Amanda.

Your gift to the Bishop’s Appeal helps people like Amanda. To make a gift today contact your parish, visit the Bishop’s Appeal wesite at, or call Tammy toll free 877-500-3580, Ext. 8123.
