A Note from Fr. Joel
Finally, we are back to Mass, some say with happiness, though some still with resentment of the
decisions of our authorities.
As we see it advertised, “We’re all in this together!”. So, as it is the “New Normal”, let’s calmly just do our small part in this trying time journey. This will pass also and then back to “normal normal” with hope a new challenge will not come very soon.
As we are back to Mass on the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, we are all invited to renew our devotion to the Eucharist, our spiritual food for the journey. So, whatever and however the decision was made for the comeback to Mass, let’s be thankful and enjoy it with respect to all and most of all with humble heart receive Him. I hope and pray that all of us who love coming to Church for Mass will be so patient with the requirements are set in place for our safety.
Have a blessed Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ Sunday.
Co-Traveler, Fr. Joel, MF
The Mass: A Slice at a time
Participation in the Blessed Eucharist
Any baptized person who is not forbidden by law may and must be admitted to holy communion. (Canon 912). This canon considers the external conditions necessary to have the right to receive the sacraments. The internal dispositions are a different matter. By virtue of baptism, any member of Christ’s faithful has a fundamental right (of divine origin) to receive the Eucharist. This gives rise to the corresponding obligation of the ministers of the sacrament to distribute it whenever the faithful request it at a suitable moment and in a suitable place, unless the existence of some impediment is evident in the external forum.
Corpus Christi
The Feast of Corpus Christi 'Day of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Jesus Christ the Lord'), also known as the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, is a Catholic liturgical solemnity celebrating the Real Presence of the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ in the elements of the Eucharist.
Two months earlier, the institution of the Eucharist at the Last Supper is observed on Maundy Thursday in a sombre atmosphere leading to Good Friday. The liturgy on that day also commemorates Christ's washing of the disciples' feet, the institution of the priesthood and the agony in the Garden of Gethsemane.
The feast of Corpus Christi was proposed by St. Thomas Aquinas, Doctor of the Church to Pope Urban IV; in order to create a feast focused solely on the Holy Eucharist, emphasizing the joy of the Eucharist being the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ.
The feast is liturgically celebrated on the Thursday after Trinity Sunday or, "where the Solemnity of The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ is not a holy day of obligation, it is assigned to the Sunday after the Most Holy Trinity as its proper day".
At the end of Holy Mass, there is often a procession of the Blessed Sacrament, generally displayed in a monstrance. The procession is followed by Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. A notable Eucharistic procession is that presided over by the Pope each year in Rome, where it begins at the Archbasilica of St. John Lateran and passes to the Basilica of Saint Mary Major, where it concludes with Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.

St. Michael Prayer
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen

Universal Giving Page
The Catholic Foundation is excited to share with us that they have created a Universal Giving Page at www.catholicfoundationgb.org/donate. This is a great resource for our parish as we do not have an on line giving program. It makes giving to our parish simple and easy! The Catholic Foundation will be cutting a check weekly to our parish along with a report of what families gave to the parish and the amount of each gift.
2020 FUNDRAISERS
Due to COVID-19, the 2020 fundraisers at St. Michael’s have been suspended until it is safe to resume. The Festival scheduled for June 27th has been our biggest fundraising event raising on average $10,000. We are suggesting a non-fundraiser fundraiser in lieu of this big event. You do not need to sell or buy raffle tickets, cook anything, bake anything, volunteer your time, work in the heat, set up, clean up or do dishes! We would be grateful for monetary donations to offset the loss of this source of revenue to keep our Parish solvent. Please mail or drop off donations at the Parish office or drop in the collection basket indicating it is for fundraising. Thank you for your continued support of our Parish during this time.
Parish Office
The Parish Office will be closed Wednesday, June 10 through Friday, June 12 due to Vacation.
Kateri Prayer Circle
Never underestimate the power of prayer. Just one small prayer can change your life. If you or your amily members need prayers for any reason, please call one of our Kateri Prayer Circle members, who will in turn call members of their group. Soon, many prayers will be offered for your specific prayer request. Please call:
Fay Waupochick 715-799-3437
Leatha Grinhaug 715-851-6838
You can also call the Parish Office to leave requests
