A Note From Your Deacon
I am not sure if you were able to join Bishop Ricken for his virtual retreat last Monday but it was very insightful and inspiring. It was also recorded and likely will be made available on the Diocese of Green Bay website soon, if you are interested. The Bishop encouraged us to “pause” this Lent and take time to listen to God, for when we stop listening to the noise and distracting voices around us, then we can hear the Holy Spirit speaking to us in the silence. The Bishop went on to share the inspiring story of his brother, Mark, who one day on his farm in Colorado, heard his name called and, stopping the tractor, he listened some more and heard a voice asking him to pray for those nearing death. He took up this divine invitation and started praying two hours a day for those near death and he promoted the Divine Mercy Chaplet to all he met. It is in the Divine Mercy prayer that many near death find comfort and hope.
I admit listening to God and trusting is not an easy thing to do. This past week I have had to learn a lesson to let go and trust (again). I lost my wallet (again) and began to worry that a dishonest person would find it and steal money and my cards, steal my identity, and this would just be a big hassle to deal with. The more I thought about the lost wallet, the more I worried. The more I worried, the harder it was to pray. As I reflected on all this, I felt God inviting me to stop the worry and start trusting. It took hard effort but when I did let go of my worries about the lost wallet and decided to trust, I felt more at peace and believed all would be well! Wouldn’t you know, a short time later, I found the wallet under a church bulletin, on a desk at home. I think God has a sense of humor! Perhaps, it might be helpful for all of us to remember the good words of St. Padre Pio for us, “Pray, hope, and don't worry!” This Lent, I would also strongly suggest adding this prayer to your daily prayers, “Jesus, I trust in you!”
Upon Further Reflection
The husband was shocked. “It is not! Show me!”
In His Mercy,
Deacon Mark
Fr. Nonito

Trying New Foods in Timor-Leste
Timor-Leste has the highest rate of child malnutrition in Asia, and many children suffer from stunting, which makes a big impact on a child’s growth and future. Home gardens and fishponds are helping families provide better nutrition for their children. What do you eat to stay healthy? What can you do to ensure children have enough food to thrive? St. Michael Prayer
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen
