Note from your Pastor
We celebrate the Solemnity of the Ascension of our Lord Jesus this Sunday. And his apostles must have felt the pain as Jesus ascended into heaven forty days after his resurrection. However, the pain would have been bearable because of his assurance to them, “I am with you always, until the end of the age.” This is the same assurance given to us by Jesus. Being assured of his presence means we could courageously journey through life in spite of the difficulties and challenges that possibly lie ahead.
Moreover, during the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord Jesus, we celebrate also the World Communications Day. This is an occasion that reminds us all of the necessity to fulfill the divine command that the Lord Jesus has entrusted to us of proclaiming his Gospel through modern means available to us with the aim of making disciples of all nations. This is a noble task, but to fulfill it we should first be faithful to our Lord Jesus and his message.
Let us then become instruments of the Lord Jesus in bringing others to him.
In Jesus,
Fr. Nonito
The Mass: A Slice at a time
A priest is not to omit dutifully to prepare himself by prayer before the celebration of the Eucharist, nor afterwards to omit to make thanksgiving to God. (Canon 909). In our sacristy we have a prayer that all the ministers along with the priest pray together before we start our Eucharistic celebration. And then after celebration the same ministers and altar servers are recommended to give thanks to God for the grace of serving at the liturgical celebration by reciting the Thanksgiving Prayer after Mass.
The Ascension of Our Lord Jesus Christ
Jesus refers to his Ascension in the Gospel of John when he tells Mary Magdalene, "Stop holding on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father, but go to my brothers and say to them, I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God" (John 20:17). Before his Ascension, Christ spent forty days teaching the Apostles and disciples about the Kingdom of God (Acts 1:3). The Lord informed them that they would receive power from the Holy Spirit to be his witnesses to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8). The Ascension occurred at Bethany on the Mount of Olives (Luke 19:29). Christ's work of redemption has become known as the Paschal Mystery of Christ and was accomplished principally by his Passion, death, Resurrection, and Glorious Ascension into Heaven. The Paschal Mystery of Christ constitutes one action for the salvation of mankind, for Jesus “was handed over to death for our trespasses and was raised for our justification” (Romans 4:25).

St. Michael Prayer
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen
