CONFIRMATION:
The fifth element of the kerygma experience is Re-Creation.
Christ’s Resurrection and Ascension into heaven paved way for the coming of the Advocate, the Holy Spirit so that the presence of God may continue in His people, at the same time to empower the Church (in general), he established in her mission. In other words, we continue to encounter God through the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and still experience Him in our lives, giving us the sense of mission as Disciples of Christ.
After my Ordination to the Priesthood, I felt even more the grace of God in my life. I knew something had changed in me, and I am aware of the much expected responsibility I have to take. There were a lot of instances where I can say that the Holy Spirit truly works in me, especially in my ministry. I remember when Jesus told his disciples not to worry with what they are to say when they will be brought to court in front of their persecutors, the Lord indeed will speak on your behalf, He will put His words into your mouth; sometimes I totally forgot what I have prepared in my sermon but conscious of the presence of the Holy Spirit I call upon the Lord to help me what to say, it was amazing! Unbelievable! Some people would approach me after I gave some spiritual talks and tell me; ‘father, that was inspiring what you said about in your talk, and I ask them did I really say that?’
When we were confirmed we not only became ‘soldiers’ of Christ, moreover we receive the Holy Spirit in us so that we may testify and share Jesus himself to others. I’m sure blessed especially when I received the Sacrament of the Holy Orders that I may share the goodness and the love of God he has given me.
Fr. Francis, m.f.
The Mass: A slice at a Time - The Liturgical Year
When we gather as God’s family, we become one of the primary symbols we talked about earlier. We become an assembly of people, gathered for a purpose. We become the body of Christ, each of us having a role and a place in the body- just as an eye and a hand and a foot all have a job in a body. At Thanksgiving, do you notice if someone is missing? The family feels incomplete, and we hope maybe next year everyone can make it. In a similar way, we all have to be at Sunday Mass or else the body is incomplete.
