Yesterday the Church celebrated the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Her birthday means immensely a lot for all of us because according to God the Father’s plan of salvation, from her fiat the Word of God became man for our sake. So we really have to give her our loving and devoted honor by may be personally praying the Holy Rosary and the recitation of the Memorare prayer.
On this 23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time of our liturgical Calendar, the word of God brings us Good News when Jesus pronounced: “Ephphatha!” - meaning: “Be opened”. This event or encounter written in the Gospel of St. Mark, is also intended for all of us and its deep meaning is for us to truly open our ears and listen to his Divine Word and follow it and share his message of love and forgiveness to our brethren in words and in action. Let’s open our ears to the cry of the poor and let us open our lips with kind, clean words and avoid the opposite. Have a blessed Sunday everyone.
Co-Traveler, Fr. Joel
Memorare Prayer
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my mother. To you I come, before you I stand sinful and sorrowful. Oh Mother of the word incarnate, despite not my petitions but in your mercy, hear and answer me.
The Mass – A slice at a time
Entrance - If there is no singing at the Entrance, the antiphon given in the Missal is recited either by the faithful, or by some of them, or by a reader, otherwise it is recited by the Priest himself, who may even adapt it as an introductory explanation.

Pope Benedict XVI's Prayer for Grandparents
Lord Jesus, you were born of the Virgin Mary,
the daughter of Saints Joachim and Anne. Look with love on grandparents the world over. Protect them! They are a source of enrichment for families, for the Church and for all of society. Support them! As they grow older, may they continue to be for their families’ strong pillars of Gospel faith, guardian of noble domestic ideals, living treasuries of sound religious traditions.
Make them teachers of wisdom and courage that they may pass on to future generations the fruits of their mature human and spiritual experience.
Lord Jesus, help families and society to value the presence and roles of grandparents. May they never be ignored or excluded, but always encounter respect and love. Help them to live serenely and to feel welcomed in all the years of life which you give them.
Mary, Mother of all the living, keep grandparents constantly in your care, accompany them on their earthly pilgrimage, and by your prayers, grant that all families may one day be reunited in our heavenly homeland, where you await all humanity for the great embrace of life without end. Amen!
