SPECIAL NOTICE:

Message from St. Michael Parish

Regarding COVID-19

I wanted to give you a brief update regarding how we are handling the challenges locally that we face with the COVID-19 virus.

We are receiving many questions regarding a variety of things and I hope this will clear up some of those items for each of you.

·         First and foremost, we continue to pray. Even though public Mass has been suspended until late-April, we are encouraging everyone to pray. Some ways to do this:

o   As a family at each meal

o   Before you go to bed at night (especially if you have children) say some prayers

o   A suggestion is to pray the OUR FATHER while you wash your hands and that can serve as the amount of time needed to properly wash them.

o   Say a daily prayer for those who are struggling during this time.

·         Questions have come up about how to still participate in Sunday Mass.

o   We will be live streaming Sunday Mass here at our parish at 9 am.

o   We as a diocese are grateful to WFRV Channel 5 for their openness to televising a Mass with Bishop Ricken every Sunday at 10:30 am.

o   You can also check out Facebook pages for the diocese and Relevant Radio for live streaming of Sunday Mass.

o   We WILL celebrate and live stream the Holy Week Masses but only the priests are allowed to attend.

·         Will the parish office remain open?

o   Yes, at the time of this post, we are maintaining regular business hours – Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 8 am – 2 pm, Friday 9 am to 1 pm. Closed Wednesdays.

·         Will the church be open?

o   Yes. We will open every day at 8 am until 10 am.  We need to maintain no more than 10 people in the church at all times so please be aware that we may have delays for you to get into the church if we are over that amount.

·         How about Anointing of the Sick?

o   Call the parish office if this comes up and Fr. Nonito or Fr. Joel will do the anointing.

·         Can we still have a funeral?

o   We are working with the funeral homes to accommodate the best we can if there is a need for a funeral. Know that we CANNOT have more than 10 people present for the funeral. We are trying to find a secure way to have the funeral live-streamed without invading the privacy of our family.

·         How can you support the parish?

o   We are still in need of financial support to continue to serve the communities as we have up until this point. So, please if you are able to continue to donate please mail your contributions (PO Box 610, Keshena, WI 54135) or drop them off at the Parish Office.

·         Is the Food Pantry open?

o   The Food Pantry will remain open and is going to be in great demand in the coming weeks so please feel free to drop off food at the parish office or during the times listed above in church.  We are adding an extra pick up day – March 31st from 1-3 pm.  We will then be open our regular schedule for April - the 7th and 21st

This is a start to try and answer all questions moving forward. If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!

I keep thinking to myself of the time after Jesus was crucified and the Apostles gathered and felt scared and alone, not knowing what to do.  God never abandoned them and they realized the Resurrection a few days later. Take peace in comfort that God is still with us and will remain with us through these tough times we are facing.

God Bless each of you and your Families,

Fr. Nonito Barra
